Precision Recruitment, which recently relocated it’s office to York St in the city centre, has successfully won a valuable place in the Coaching for High Growth project, run by the East Midlands Development Agency (Emda) and funded by Emda and the European Regional Development Fund. The programme, which is aimed at the bright stars of the East Midlands business community, provides 20 days of specialist coaching over a 12-month period along with a number of linked master classes. The total support package to each firm is worth £20,000. Phil Walker, Precision’s Director commented:- “After a tough 18 months in our industry we are seeing substantial growth within the majority of our market sectors. With the assistance of the programme we aim to grow our business organically, increasing our staff into verticals within our three specialist sectors of engineering, technical and sales recruitment, whilst continuing to invest in training and development. Employment in the manufacturing sector has risen for the second month in a row, according to the latest data from the Markit/CIPS index. The rate of jobs growth was only slightly below April’s three-year high, while the headline seasonally adjusted Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) was steady at 58.0, in line with April’s fifteen-and-a-half year high, consistent with a marked rate of expansion. |

The number of employers operating a recruitment freeze has fallen sharply from 37% in August/September to just 5%, according to the latest CBI/Harvey Nash employment trends survey. According to the February/March survey, employers in professional services and banking, finance & insurance (2%) are least likely to be operating a freeze on hiring. Retailers (13%) and construction companies (10%) are most likely to have a freeze in place. |
